Ibiza Airport (IBZ, also known as Eivissa Airport) is located at the south end of the island of Ibiza, about 7 kilometers southwest of Ibiza Town, the island’s capital. It serves as the primary international gateway for both Ibiza and the nearby Formentera.
In 2024, the airport handled over 9 million passengers - a historic record high number.
Originally established as a military airfield, it transitioned to commercial operations and has since become an important hub for tourism in the region. The airport has undergone multiple extensions throughout the decades with the latest expansion in 2002.
Major Airlines - Vueling, Ryanair, EasyJet, TUI
Ibiza Airport is a hub for the low-cost carrier Vueling, which offers numerous routes to many European destinations.
Other significant airlines operating at IBZ include Ryanair, easyJet, and Jet2.com, providing extensive seasonal and year-round connections across Europe.
Due to tourism peaking in summer, the airport receives a huge amount of seasonal charter flights. Some of the biggest tourism charter airlines serving the IBZ include TUI and Eurowings.

Check-in Process
Arrive at the airport at least 1.5 hours before domestic flights and 2 hours before international flights leaving the Schengen Zone. Consider going earlier than that if traveling in July or August.
Check-in desks are located on the Ground Floor of the terminal building.
Alternatively, you can check in online or via a mobile app up to 24-48 hours before the flight, depending on the airline and your destination.
The airport accepts both paper and electronic boarding passes. Once you have a boarding pass and have dropped off your check-in bags, you can proceed to security and immigration (if flying out of the Schengen zone).
Note that some low-budget airlines may charge a fee for manual check-in.
Terminal Layout and Gates
Ibiza Airport features a single terminal for both arrivals and departures and has a single runway 2800 meters long. There are 17 boarding gates.
The airport is open 24/7 during the summer (April - September) and from 6:30 AM to 11 PM during the winter (October–March).
On the ground floor, you will find the arrivals hall, airline counters, and various services (car rentals, currency exchange, luggage storage, etc).
On the first floor are the restaurants, shops, and gates.
Dining Options
The airport has restaurants for any taste or whim, as well as various coffee shops and bars. Some of the most popular ones are:
O'Learys: Located on Floor 1 of Departures (passenger-only zone), this younger-feel restaurant-grill is a comfortable dining venue serving grilled meats, salads, and sandwiches.
StrEAT: is a new concept Food Market with four different themed spaces for different street food. You can find it on Floor 1 of Departures (passenger-only zone).
La Charlotte: Also located on Floor 1 of Departures, Charlotte is a good choice for a place to relax if you want to try local beers and perhaps a hot dog or some hummus and nachos with cheese.
Lounges
The only lounge at the airport is the VIP Lounge Cap des Falcó, located on Floor 1 in the boarding area, next to Gate 1. The lounge is open from 6:00 to 22:30.
Access is available to business class passengers, and certain frequent flyer members but other travelers can also purchase a 4-hour pass.
The lounge offers catering, TV, fast wifi, gluten-free, kosher, and halal food, and digital newspapers.
Transportation to and from the Airport
You have several transportation options, both public and private, for reaching and departing from Ibiza Airport:
- Bus: 3 bus lines connect IBZ airport to the rest of the island:
Line 10 runs from Ibiza City to the Airport via San Jorge;
Line 24 runs from Cala Nova to the Airport via Es Canar and Santa Eulària;
Line 9 runs from San Antonio to the Airport via San José.
Fares depend on the journey duration of the lines. For reference, a single ticket on Line 10 to the island capital costs €3.60.
Taxi: The airport has 69 taxis, permanently available throughout the whole year, three of which are specially equipped for people with disabilities. Taxi ranks are situated in front of the terminal. A ride to Ibiza Town typically takes about 15 minutes. Always take a taxi from the signed taxi rank at the terminal and avoid taxi drivers offering services from other points.
Car hire is possible at Ibiza Airport. Most major providers have a presence at the airport - find their kiosks on Floor 0, either in the Baggage Claim room or the Arrivals Lobby.
To get to Formentera Island, first to go Ibiza Town, then take a ferry from Port d'Eivissa.
